Presented by IDA, the Institute for Diversity in the Arts. This course examines how cultural expressions, practices, and values challenge, resist, and sometimes transcend the constraints of capitalist frameworks. This lecture series invites visits from local and nationally recognized artists, activists, leaders and scholars; as well as site visits to surrounding communities to understand how the cultivation of new relationships to power create unprecedented conditions for collective change. This course counts towards a concentration in Identity, Diversity, and Aesthetics. Students can complete AFRICAAM 15 units of Institute for Diversity in the Arts courses to fulfill this subplan.
