How do we read the environment on and off the page? How - and why - do we write it? Through the practice of poetry, we will attend to and re-imagine our relationship to natural and built environments, consumerism, and otherness. Readings include poems, films, and other texts, with a focus on those that register disproportionate impact of environmental degradation along axes of race, gender, and class around the world. Elements of poetic craft will serve as springboards for your own poems. Creative writing experience is not necessary. Enrollment is limited. Taught in Spanish.
