An introduction to cost-effectiveness analysis in health primarily for graduate, professional, and advanced undergraduate students. Focuses on foundations for quantifying the value of a health care or public health intervention, considering potential benefits, harms, and costs. The course includes an overview of cost-effectiveness analysis, basic modeling techniques, health utility measurement, costing, uncertainty quantification, and decision rules. Emphasis is on the art of practical application and lectures feature real-world use of cost-effectiveness analysis to evaluate tradeoffs in healthcare. Students who wish to take HRP 263: Advanced Decision Science Methods and Modeling in Health in winter quarter should enroll for 5 units and participate in the programming-focused section.
