Topics include Portugal's Asian empire, Iberian humanism, classical reception, Neoplatonism, and the limits of poetry. Readings include Camoes's epic masterpiece, Os Lusiadas, alongside his expansive and innovative lyric production. Readings in Portuguese and English. Taught in English.
